The background<\/h2>\n

The TCPA, passed in 1991, requires \u201cprior express consent\u201d before a business can place an autodialed or prerecorded marketing call to a consumer\u2019s mobile phone. In 2012, the FCC interpreted that to mean written<\/em> consent for marketing calls \u2014 usually a signed e-form or checkbox at sign-up.
