For most CEOs outside of pure tech, the last 30 months of AI have been an HQ phenomenon \u2014 a marketing co-pilot here, a finance summarization tool there, a sales-prospecting bot, a customer-service chatbot. Useful, but boxed inside knowledge-work. In May 2026, that boundary is finally collapsing. AI is moving out of the HQ org chart and into operations, maintenance, manufacturing, energy, logistics and the physical-asset layer of the business. The metatrend reporting is consistent: Hanwha Qcells is shipping AI-driven energy-management systems for grid and asset operations; manufacturers are deploying agentic AI on the production floor; supply-chain orchestration platforms have moved from analytics dashboards to agentic execution.
